MINDFULNESS-BASED STRESS REDUCTION (MBSR) For Healthcare & Other Professionals

(27.5 class hours + daily home practice)

An 8-week group program based on the emerging field of mind-body medicine. Through intensive training in a combination of mindfulness, cognitive behavioural and self-regulation skills, learn to mobilize your deep inner resources to facilitate learning, growth, healing, enhance self care, and make positive shifts in attitudes, behaviours and relationships.

Mindfulness is increasingly being integrated into a variety of medical, educational, and business settings. The MBSR program developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the internationally acclaimed Center For Mindfulness (CFM), University of Massachusetts Medical School, is the oldest and largest Mindfulness-Based Intervention (MBI), upon which many other MBI’s are based. Through attending this program, professionals can experience MBSR and its outcomes in a non-clinical setting with a community of other professionals. By the end of the 8-week program, participants will have developed a daily personal mindfulness practice – the necessary foundation upon which to integrate mindfulness into their personal and professional lives. 

Learning Objectives

Participants will: 

  • Have a direct personal experience of the 8-week MBSR program, including its format, themes, and discussion emerging from the program.

  • Learn foundational mindfulness exercises practiced in MBSR (and adapted by various other MBI’s) to develop their own mindfulness practice, gaining the tools to integrate mindfulness into their personal and professional lives.

  • Complete an essential prerequisite for anyone considering leading the MBSR program or applying for teacher certification.

Who 

Physicians, Nurses, Psychologists, Teachers, Social Workers, and other professionals. Any physician or therapist curious about this program that you have been hearing about from your patients! 

Please note that this program does not certify participants to teach mindfulness. Through this program, participants will gain the necessary foundation in mindfulness practices to pursue teacher training, and will be offered resources with various possible next steps for further training. Our Winter MBSR program with Hannah Marsh and Cindy Grand is currently in session.

  • Orientation (mandatory): Wednesday, Feb. 7, 6:30-9:15pm MT

  • Wednesday Classes: Feb. 14 to Apr. 3, 6:30-9:00pm MT

  • Saturday Retreat: Mar. 23, 9:30am-2:30pm MT

Registration

Early bird: $637 per person + GST ($668.85) 
Regular: $687 per person + GST ($721.35)

*Registration is open to Canadian residents. Register early as space is limited. Payment must be made in full at time of registration.

*We have two partial scholarship spots available. If you are unable to register due to the cost of this program, please contact Hannah at hannah@mindfulnessinstitute.ca about applying for a partial scholarship.

Cancellation policy: Cancellations received prior to the registration deadline will be refunded minus a $100 processing fee. No refunds after the registration deadline. The Mindfulness Institute.ca reserves the right to cancel this program due to unforeseen circumstances. If this should occur, registrants will be granted full refunds. A minimum attendance of 15 people is required.
